Cristiano Ronaldo will keep playing for Portugal, having been named in the squad picked by new head coach Jorge Jesus for the upcoming international matches.
The veteran forward is still part of the national team setup as Jesus starts his spell in charge, ending any immediate doubts about Ronaldo’s international future.
Ronaldo, Portugal’s all-time top scorer and most-capped player, continues to be a key figure for the national side as the team gets ready for its next fixtures.
Including him also allows Jesus to work with one of the most seasoned players in Portuguese football as the new coach begins preparing with the squad.
As football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano posted on X on Friday, “Cristiano Ronaldo will continue with the Portugal national team.
“He’s been called up for the upcoming games by new head coach Jorge Jesus.”
Portugal’s 2026/27 UEFA Nations League campaign gets underway on September 24, 2026, with a home match against Wales.
Just four days after that, on September 27, Portugal will head to Norway, and then they face Denmark away on October 1.
Portugal’s fourth group-stage fixture comes on October 4, when they host Norway.
In the last two group-stage matches, Portugal travel to Denmark on November 14 and then close out their campaign away to Wales on November 17.
Portugal features in League A, Group 4, together with Wales, Norway, and Denmark.
