President Bola Tinubu returned to Abuja on Tuesday after an extended stay in Lagos, where he participated in the APC nationwide primaries, observed the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations and held a series of political and official engagements.

The Airbus A330 conveying Tinubu arrived at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at exactly 5:17 p.m., a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, revealed Tuesday evening.

Onanuga said, “Tinubu was received by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila; National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu; Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu; and other senior government officials.”

He mentioned that the holiday period was marked by a full schedule of political consultations, national events and diplomatic engagements.

During the Sallah homage, the President received Vice President Kashim Shettima, the leadership of the Senate led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum under the leadership of its Chairman, Kwara Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

APC stakeholders from Oyo State, including the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, also paid a homage visit, as did APC candidates for the House of Representatives and State House of Assembly from Lagos State.

On Monday, Tinubu attended the 2026 International Fleet Review at the Eko Atlantic City Waterfront as reviewing officer at events marking the Nigerian Navy’s 70th anniversary.

During the ceremony, he commissioned three naval vessels: NNS Oloibiri, NNS Mambila and NNS Gurara.

On the same day, he received the newly inaugurated President of the Republic of Benin, Romuald Wadagni, in a bilateral meeting described as reinforcing the longstanding ties of friendship, regional cooperation and economic partnership between the two neighbouring countries.

Before the Eid festivities, the President had also cast his ballot at his Ward L2 polling unit in Ikoyi-Obalende, Lagos, during the APC’s nationwide direct primaries held on May 23 across all 8,809 wards.

He was announced the party’s 2027 presidential candidate after polling 10,999,162 votes against his only challenger, Stanley Osifo, who scored 16,503.
