Nigeria’s Super Falcons have advanced one place to 36th in the new FIFA Women’s World Ranking, maintaining their position as Africa’s top-ranked team.

The ranking, revealed on Tuesday, represents a little increase over the team’s 37th position in the December 2025 ranking.

The ranking also includes two pre-WAFCON friendlies against Cameroon, which it lost 1-0 in February and won 3-1 in March 2025.

Three days after a tight 1-0 defeat in the first match, the 10-time African champions returned with a better, more attacking performance to convincingly win the tie.

Nigeria drew parity in the 32nd minute when forward Chinwendu Ihezuo headed home a perfect cross from Rinsola Babajide.

Just before halftime, Babajide scored from close range during a scramble inside the box to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead.

Michelle Alozie clinched the 3-1 victory in the 64th minute with a soaring header off a tempting cross from captain Rasheedat Ajibade.

The triumph increased the team’s lead by 3.35 points to 1602 in April, but it was still five points short of the 1607 scored in December 2025.

South Africa, Ghana, and Morocco follow the Falcons in Africa, ranking 58th, 59th, and 62nd globally, respectively.

Globally, Spain remains #1, followed by the United States, England, Germany, and Japan.
