Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has officially announced a change to his birthday celebration date. The artist, who was born on November 18, 1981, declared that he will no longer observe his birthday on the same date he shares with his twin brother, Paul Okoye. He made this known via a statement released on social media to his family, friends, and fans.

Peter made it clear that he is moving his celebration to the end of the month. He wrote, “Dear family, friends, and fans, I’m making it official. November 18th is no longer my birthday celebration date. Please note that I will not be accepting any messages or gifts on that day. My birthday will now be celebrated on November 30th. This is a personal decision, and I truly appreciate your understanding. Thank you all.”

This decision is the latest development in the long-standing and public disagreement between the brothers, who rose to fame as the legendary duo P-Square. Known for global hits like “Personally,” “Chop My Money,” and “Do Me,” P-Square was once the most successful music group in Africa.

The first major crack in their relationship appeared in 2017, leading to a five-year separation. Although they thrilled fans with a surprise reunion in November 2021, the peace was short-lived. By 2024, the group split for a second time following renewed disagreements involving their older brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, as well as allegations involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Since the most recent separation, both brothers have focused entirely on their solo careers.

Peter Okoye, known as Mr P, has embraced his identity as a solo artist and businessman. He has released successful projects like the album The Prodigal and continues to emphasize the creative freedom and “joy” he finds in working alone.

Meanwhile, the other twin, Paul Okoye, known as Rudeboy, has also maintained a strong presence in the industry with hits like “Reason with Me.” In recent interviews, he confirmed that P-Square is “no more” and that he is solely focused on his brand, Rudeboy.

Fans remain divided, with some supporting Peter’s right to personal peace and others expressing sadness over the deepening divide between the iconic brothers.

Paul Okoye has not publicly commented on his brother’s announcement.

In April 20, Chronicle NG reported that the Nigerian Association of Social and Resourceful Editors (NASRE) warned Peter Okoye over an alleged threat against journalist Bayo Adetu and urging him to retract the statement and issue a public apology.
