The Labour Party (LP) and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) have taken a swipe at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over the party’s leadership crisis.

On Wednesday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that it would no longer recognise the ADC factions led by David Mark or Nafiu Bala, following its review of the Court of Appeal judgment.

INEC said it would strictly abide by the orders of the Court of Appeal in handling the leadership dispute within the ADC.

However, the Mark-led faction rejected INEC’s interpretation of the appellate court’s ruling, accusing the electoral body of acting under external pressure.

The development means that the ADC presently has no leadership recognised by INEC.

NDC, LP Take Swipe at ADC

In separate posts on X (on Friday, both the NDC and LP appeared to take a dig at the ADC.

The LP, in its post, said the Supreme Court had resolved its own leadership tussle, urging Nigerians to join the party.

“We are standing. The Supreme Court has already settled our matter. What are you waiting for? Hop in and let us rescue Nigeria together,” the post read.

The newly registered Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) also published a similar post on its X account.

The NDC said the ADC is running out of time owing to the party’s leadership battles in court.

“ADC is already out of time. When a case enters court, it is no longer within your control. Join NDC now,” the party wrote.

The NDC was registered as a political party by INEC in February 2026, while the leadership crisis in the LP was resolved by the Supreme Court in 2025 after a series of legal battles.

The electoral commission has now recognised Nenadi Usman as the bona fide LP national chairperson.
