The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tunji Disu has visited survivors of the deadly bomb blasts in Maiduguri, pledging stronger security measures and intensified efforts to track down those responsible.
The IGP made the visit on Tuesday, a day after coordinated explosions rocked three locations in the city, leaving 23 people dead and 108 others injured, according to the Borno State Police Command.
The attacks, which occurred at about 7:24pm on Monday, struck a busy market, the gate of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, and the Post Office flyover—areas known for heavy civilian traffic.
During his visit to the teaching hospital, Disu met with injured victims and their families, offering condolences and assuring them that security agencies are actively working to dismantle the networks behind the attacks.
He also carried out an on-the-spot assessment at the popular Monday Market, one of the worst-hit locations, where he engaged with security personnel to evaluate operational readiness and improve response coordination.
As part of his engagements, the police chief visited the Borno State Government House and the police command headquarters, strengthening collaboration between federal and state authorities.
Disu said security has been reinforced across Maiduguri and surrounding areas, with increased patrols, tighter surveillance, and joint operations aimed at preventing further attacks.
The visit comes amid heightened concerns over renewed insurgent activity in the region, with authorities warning of possible additional threats.
