The Ogun State Police Command has released TikToker Abigeal Nsikak, popularly known as Mirabel, to the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development after she voluntarily presented herself at a police station in connection with her false rape claim.

DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, verified that Mirabel came to the station voluntarily in a statement released via X on Wednesday.

She had a thorough medical evaluation, he said, and she has been cooperating completely with investigators.

“In consideration of her welfare and support needs, she has been released to the Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.

“The Ministry has undertaken responsibility for her care and has assured the Command that she will be made available whenever required as investigations continue,” the statement read.

The command emphasized that the case is being handled with the utmost care, consideration, and expertise.

The public was urged to refrain from making speculative remarks and to let the investigation go smoothly, with the promise of more details as events warranted.

When Mirabel shared tearful videos on TikTok detailing an alleged home invasion and sexual assault at her Ogijo home in Ogun State in mid-February, the issue initially garnered national attention.

Celebrities commented on the broader problem of sexual assault, and donations were made as a result of the posts’ strong public outcry.

However, the claim was thereafter subjected to extensive internet examination due to purported anomalies, such as the lack of corroborating phone records and tangible proof of a forcible break-in at the scene.

She emphasized that she might not have been raped in a later, widely published interview with activist VeryDarkMan, which led to calls for her to be prosecuted for apparently fabricating a false accusation.

The inquiry is ongoing without affecting the outcome, and no arrests in connection with the claimed incident have been made public.

The Ogun State Police reaffirmed their dedication to preserving justice and the rule of law while taking seriously any accusations of sexual assault.
