The Federal Government will officially launch the Nigeria digital trade platform for air and sea cargo operations in March 2026, marking a major step in overhauling the country’s import and export systems.

In a statement shared on X, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) confirmed that its Directorate of Cargo Development and Services, working alongside the National Single Window (NSW) team, has concluded engagements with key industry stakeholders ahead of the rollout.

According to FAAN, all cargo airline operators have been directed by the Minister of Finance to begin submitting air cargo manifests through the National Single Window platform in preparation for the launch.

FAAN said training sessions will be conducted to ensure smooth adoption and effective use of the Nigeria digital trade platform once it goes live.

Henry Agbebire, FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs, said that the platform extends beyond aviation cargo. He clarified that it covers both air and seaport operations, signalling a unified system for Nigeria’s trade gateways.

President Bola Tinubu inaugurated the National Single Window project on April 16, 2024, as part of sweeping reforms aimed at boosting trade efficiency.

The electronic portal connects all government agencies and stakeholders involved in import and export processes onto one integrated system.

Tinubu projected that the initiative could generate about $2.7 billion annually for Nigeria. He also said it would reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks, tackle corruption at ports, curb revenue leakages and eliminate long-standing delays.

Earlier this month, Abubakar Dantsoho, Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), reaffirmed that the National Single Window will go live by the end of the first quarter of 2026.

With the March launch date now confirmed, the Nigeria digital trade platform is poised to reshape cargo processing across the country’s air and sea ports.
