The South African Police Service says a female suspect apprehended in connection with the death of Isaac Satlat, a 22-year-old Nigerian e-hailing driver and student, will be arraigned in Pretoria West court today (Monday).

The SAPS confirmed the information in a statement posted to its Facebook page on Sunday.

According to authorities, the suspect will be charged with carjacking and homicide.

The statement read, “The police have arrested a female suspect after an e-hailing driver was allegedly killed while inside the car in Pretoria West on Wednesday, 11 February 2026. More arrests are imminent as the police investigation continues.

“Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim was murdered by a male and female who had requested the services of an e-hailing driver in Pretoria West. The hijacked vehicle and the body of the victim were found in Atteridgeville on the same day.

“The suspect is expected to appear before the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 16 February 2026, facing charges that include car hijacking and murder.”

Satlat, a mobile engineering student, was reportedly slain on February 11 while picking up people who had requested his services.

Dashboard camera footage circulating on social media shows a female passenger hitting him, with a guy passenger in the back joining in the assault.

Satlat was strangled from behind by the suspect seated behind him in the car while struggling, according to the video.

The suspects allegedly dumped his body in the back seat before taking control of the vehicle.

In an interview with eNCA, a member of the victim’s family recognized him as Otila and described him as a quiet and respectable person.

Otila, obviously in tears, described Satlat’s death as an intolerable event that “shouldn’t have happened to anybody.”

He also requested assistance with the repatriation of the deceased’s body.

“Right now we need assistance so that he can be taken back home, and he can be laid to rest where he is from, his hometown,” Otila said.

This is not the first case of a Nigerian being killed in South Africa.

According to the Foundation for Investigative Journalism, seven Nigerians have been killed in South Africa over the last ten months.

According to the report, the casualties included Taiwo Raji, Yemi Akinwunmi, Austin, and Ayo, among others.
