Luis Diaz scored a hat-trick, and Harry Kane converted two penalties as Bayern Munich smashed 10-man Hoffenheim, regaining a six-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga.
England attacker Kane gave Bayern the perfect start, converting the first of Diaz’s two penalties, while Hoffenheim defender Kevin Akpoguma was sent off for a tackle on the Colombian winger.
Third-placed Hoffenheim leveled through Andrej Kramaric before Bayern grabbed complete control, with Kane scoring his 38th goal in all competitions and putting on a third for Diaz as halftime loomed.
The former Liverpool man tapped in a Michael Olise pass to increase Bayern’s lead further and rounded off the scoring in the final minute.
The current German champions had temporarily seen their advantage at the top of the table reduced to three points by Borussia Dortmund, who won at Wolfsburg on Saturday.
