Ibrahim Kashim, the Bauchi State governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has resigned from the party.
In a statement issued on Monday, Kashim announced his resignation, stating that it took effect on October 16, 2026.
He explained that his decision came after careful reflection, but he emphasized that it would not diminish his commitment to the political struggle for a better Bauchi State.
“My conviction remains that our dear state deserves purposeful leadership, a stronger economy, greater opportunities for our youths and women, improved security, and a future in which every citizen can live with dignity and hope,” he said.
The former governorship candidate assured his supporters that his political journey was far from finished, adding that his dedication to the development of the state remained steadfast.
He stated that he would keep engaging with individuals and groups who shared his vision of a peaceful, prosperous, and economically vibrant Bauchi State.
Kashim, however, did not reveal his next political move but said he would make known the direction of his political struggle in due course.
“In due course, we shall communicate to you the next phase of our struggle and the direction we intend to take,” he stated.
He called on his supporters to remain calm, steadfast, and united, insisting that their mission went beyond membership of a political party.
“Our mission is bigger than any political party; it is about the future of our people and the destiny of our state and country,” he added.
