Amine Adli netted a last-minute goal as Bournemouth brought an end to Liverpool’s 13-match unbeaten streak in a thrilling Premier League encounter at Vitality Stadium.

Following a flurry in front of the goal, Adli scored in the fifth minute of stoppage time, sending the home supporters into a frenzy after Liverpool had originally equalized from two goals behind.

With 10 minutes remaining, Dominik Szoboszlai netted his second free kick of the week to level the score for Liverpool after Virgil van Dijk had earlier reduced the deficit.

A disastrous seven-minute period for Liverpool resulted in Arne Slot’s team taking a two-goal lead on the south coast.

Evanilson put the Cherries ahead in the 26th minute when Van Dijk couldn’t clear the ball, and Joe Gomez got injured colliding with goalkeeper Alisson while attempting to block Evanilson’s shot.

With Gomez leaving the pitch and Wataru Endo prepared to take his place, Liverpool continued to play with 10 men for seven minutes without stopping the game.

In the 33rd minute, Alex Jimenez received a through ball from James Hill and scored by slipping it between Alisson’s legs to extend Bournemouth’s advantage.

Liverpool then made the substitution and demonstrated strong determination to re-enter the match, with Van Dijk nodding in Szoboszlai’s corner just before half-time, and then Mohamed Salah, from a free-kick, slid the ball to Szoboszlai, who struck into the bottom corner beyond Djordje Petrovic to equalize.

Each team had opportunities to secure victory as Alisson deflected Ryan Christie’s shot over the bar, while Petrovic made a fantastic save to thwart Florian Wirtz.

In stoppage time, Adli’s goal resulted in Liverpool’s first loss since November, although they have not secured a Premier League victory in 2026. A loss places them in fourth, while Bournemouth rises to 13th.

Although Liverpool dominated initially without testing Petrovic, Van Dijk’s mistake shifted the balance.

The Liverpool captain could have effortlessly cleared his lines from Marcos Senesi’s cross, but he was punished when Alex Scott sent the ball racing across goal for Evanilson to net his fifth goal of the season. To complicate things further, the error resulted in Gomez’s injury.

It was a harsh setback for Gomez, who performed superbly in Marseille earlier in the week and was included in the lineup again with Ibrahima Konate unavailable. It’s astonishing that Liverpool is contemplating Andy Robertson’s departure, considering their limited choices.

By the hour mark, three members of Liverpool’s starting back four had been substituted, as Slot replaced Milos Kerkez with Robertson at half-time and brought on Jeremie Frimpong an hour in, with Szoboszlai taking over at right-back.

Szoboszlai, Liverpool’s standout player this season, produced yet another moment of brilliance to equalize—and the narrative might have changed completely if Petrovic hadn’t made an incredible save to stop Wirtz.

However, Liverpool were disorganized while attempting to manage a long throw and were duly punished by a Bournemouth team that deserves full recognition for their display.
