Chioma Ifemeludike, the Nigerian actress and filmmaker better known as IfeDike, garnered 292 votes in the Anambra governorship election held on Saturday, a race decisively won by the incumbent Charles Soludo.

Ifemeludike, who contested under the African Action Congress (AAC), secured the minimal vote share across the state’s 5,718 polling units, according to the official results announced on Sunday.

The outcome followed a campaign in which the actress highlighted her political background, including her history as a “female unionist” and her tenure as AAC chairperson.

She had described her nomination as a product of preparation and grassroots connection, championing a manifesto of social interventions like solar power, subsidised school fees, and enhanced security.

However, her platform failed to gain traction with the electorate. Edoma Omoregie, the returning officer, declared that Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) won a landslide victory with 422,664 votes.

Soludo’s closest rival was Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who earned 99,445 votes, followed by Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) with 37,753 votes.

George Moghalu of the Labour Party (LP) had 10,576 votes in fourth place while Jude Ezenwafor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured 1,401 votes to come in at a distant fifth.

Ifemeludike’s total placed her far behind other contenders.
