Estevao scored in the 95th minute to give Chelsea a 2-1 victory over Liverpool and hand them their third consecutive defeat in all competitions.

Liverpool was seeking to rebound from losses to Crystal Palace and Galatasaray after Arsenal knocked them off top spot in the Premier League with a win over West Ham on Saturday.

However, the Reds were rightly defeated when the Brazilian teenager Estevao scored in extra time, causing wild scenes at Stamford Bridge, including a red card for head coach Enzo Maresca for sprinting down the touchline to celebrate with his team.

Arne Slot’s team had to come from behind after Moises Caicedo put Chelsea ahead in the 14th minute with an unstoppable shot from the edge of the box that hit the top left corner.

Cody Gakpo equalized in the 63rd minute after Alexander Isak’s touch from Dominik Szoboszlai’s cross dropped into the path of the forward, who stabbed it in.

Chelsea dominated the first half but struggled at the start of the second as their center-back problems persisted, with both Benoit Badiashile and Josh Acheampong forced out injured.

Florian Wirtz came in at halftime and elevated Liverpool, but only briefly, with Mo Salah squandering two excellent chances before Chelsea finished much stronger.

They pushed for the winner late on, with substitutes Jamie Gittens and Estevao forcing Giorgi Mamardashvili, who was filling in for the injured Alisson, to save before tipping over another long-range Caicedo shot.

Enzo Fernandez should have given Chelsea the lead after headed Estevao’s cross against the outside of the left post, but the teenager tapped in from Marc Cucurella’s low cross for their first league win in four games.
