The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the Ghari/Tsanyawa constituency supplementary election for the Kano assembly.

Muhammad Waziri, the returning officer for the election from Bayero University, announced the result on Sunday morning.

Waziri said Garba Gwarmai of the APC polled 31,472 votes to defeat Yusuf Maigado of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), who scored 27,931 votes.

The supplementary election was held after the earlier exercise in the constituency was declared inconclusive.

Despite losing the supplementary poll, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) won the Bagwai/Shanono state constituency by-election in Kano.

Hassan Adamu Shitu, returning officer for the election, said Ali Hassan Kiyawa of the NNPP scored 16,198 votes to defeat Ahmad Muhammad Kadamu of the APC who polled 5,347 votes.
