A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a fundamental rights suit filed by Aisha Achimugu, managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) of Felak Concept Group, against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the search of her residence and the seizure of her property.
Musa Liman, the presiding judge, dismissed the suit on Monday, ruling that the anti-graft agency had the power to search Achimugu’s residence after receiving intelligence about her alleged criminal activities.
In the suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/466/2026, Achimugu challenged the EFCC’s search of her residence and the seizure of her cars, jewellery and other items.
Achimugu also asked the court to award her ₦10 billion in damages over what she described as an “invasion of her privacy”.
However, the judge held that there was no basis for restraining the commission from carrying out its statutory duties and dismissed her claim for damages.
The court described the suit as lacking merit, saying it was “frivolous and brought in bad faith”.
Reacting to the judgment, Emenike Mgbemele, EFCC counsel, said the decision was in the interest of justice.
He added that the suit was an attempt to waste the court’s time.
