Social media platform X is down for thousands of users across the globe in what appears to be a widespread outage.

Reports began flooding in early Saturday morning, with frustrated users saying the platform won’t load, feeds aren’t refreshing, and messages can’t be sent or received. The outage is affecting both the web and mobile app versions.

DownDetector, a real-time problem and outage monitoring service, shows a significant spike in reports, with major hotspots in the UK, Europe, and the United States.

This marks one of the largest disruptions since Elon Musk rebranded Twitter to X in 2023. Despite the growing backlash online, the company has yet to issue an official statement.

The outage is not only frustrating personal users but is also impacting businesses, media outlets, and emergency alerts that rely on the platform for rapid communication.

Users have taken to rival platforms like Threads, Bluesky, and Mastodon to vent their frustrations, using hashtags like #XDown and #TwitterDown to spread the word.

It remains unclear what caused the crash or when full service will be restored.
