England secured their second consecutive victory in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with a dominant 3-0 win over Latvia, extending their unbeaten home streak in qualifying matches to 30 games (27 wins, 3 draws)

.A stunning free-kick from Reece James set the Three Lions on their way, as Thomas Tuchel’s side maintained their perfect start to the campaign.

Having opened the Tuchel era with a routine 2-0 win against Albania, the host aimed to build on that momentum at Wembley.

Despite controlling possession early on, England narrowly avoided an early scare when Vladislavs Gutkovskis failed to capitalize on a defensive mix-up between Marc Guehi and Jordan Pickford.

Grateful for the let-off, England increased their attacking intensity. Ezri Konsa forced a fine save from Latvian goalkeeper Krisjanis Zviedris, while Harry Kane missed a headed opportunity from close range.

    • England beat Albania 2-0 in Tuchel’s first game

The breakthrough finally arrived before halftime, as James curled a brilliant free-kick into the top corner—his first goal for the national team.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Tuchel’s men dictating play but struggling to break through Latvia’s disciplined defense. Kane went close with a curling effort, but he made no mistake in the 68th minute, tapping in Declan Rice’s low cross for his 71st international goal.

Substitute Eberechi Eze added a third with 15 minutes remaining, scoring his maiden England goal via a deflected strike. Despite late chances for Morgan Rogers and Kane, Zviedris denied further damage as England comfortably saw out the match.

The Three Lions’ strong start under Tuchel continues as they set their sights on the next challenge in their World Cup qualifying journey.
