    Patience Umo, Akwa Ibom First Lady buried amid tears

    Pastor Patience Umo, the late First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, has arrived in Ikot Ekpene Udo, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, for her funeral service. 

    The Akwa Ibom State Government declared Friday a work-free day in memory of the departed.

    Mrs. Umo, 57 years old, died after a brief illness in an undisclosed hospital on Thursday, September 26, 2024.

    Her death was announced in a statement on Thursday signed by Comrade Ini Ememobong, Honourable Commissioner for Information, Akwa Ibom State.

    The statement partly reads, The statement reads, ”It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the wife of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Pastor Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, following an illness. She passed away peacefully at the hospital on September 26, 2024, in the presence of her family.”

    She has since been replaced by her daughter Helen Eno-Obareki, who is now the acting First Lady of Akwa Ibom State.

    The 57-year-old woman, who recently celebrated her 37th year wedding anniversary with her husband, is survived by six children.
