Mikel Arteta has accepted a new and improved contract with Premier League champions Arsenal, according to reports.
The BBC stated that, following months of negotiations, the Spanish coach has finalized an agreement with the Gunners to prolong his time at the club.
Arteta’s existing contract is set to run out at the conclusion of the 2026/27 season, though discussions about an extension have been underway for several months.
There is no confirmation regarding the duration of his new contract, but the deal is anticipated to keep Arteta at Arsenal until at least his 10th year with the club, after he was named manager in December 2019.
The report indicates that the new deal will also feature a substantial rise on his current £10 million-a-year salary, along with an extra £5 million in bonuses.
In August, Arsenal chief executive Richard Garlick said Arteta would sign a new contract “very shortly,” as the negotiations reached their closing stages.
Discussing the contract talks last week, Arteta remarked: “They [the fans] don’t have to worry about any of that because I want to be here. I’m extremely happy and I feel very grateful to work with the people I work with.”
