The Edo State Police Command has detained a 16-year-old girl, Aisha Suleiman, who is accused of poisoning her ex-boyfriend, Emmanuel, and four other young males in the Afashio community in Edo State’s Etsako West LGA.

The terrible discovery occurred on October 26, 2024, when Emmanuel’s father, Mr. Elogie Ezekiel, arrived at his son’s flat at 6:30 a.m. and discovered some lifeless victims inside.

Ezekiel apparently discovered the body of a young man named Nurudeen in the passageway.

Moving farther into the flat, he discovered Emmanuel, 19, and his girlfriend, Ada Samuel, 16, both dead on the bedroom bed.

Emmanuel’s other pals, Samuel and Jeffrey Ayegwalo, both siblings, were found comatose in the sitting room.

All five were promptly rushed to the hospital, where physicians declared them dead upon arrival.

According to some local sources, the victims had just finished eating a pot of pepper soup cooked by Suleiman for the five pals.

Three days later, authorities received word that Suleiman, who was accused of poisoning the victims, was set to be lynched by a gang of local young men.

SP Moses Yamu, the state police public relations officer, informed our correspondent on Friday that police officers from the Jattu Division responded swiftly to the situation, intervened, and securely carried Suleiman to the station.

“The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a thorough investigation,” Yamu added.

Meanwhile, CP Umoru Ozigi, the Commissioner of Police, has ordered a thorough investigation, urging investigators to follow every conceivable lead to identify the true cause of death in the case.

He also advised against any type of mob action, urging the community to let the police do their job. CP Ozigi assured the public that justice will be sought vigorously.
