Nigerians have criticised social media influencer Reno Omokri following his visit to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa on Independence Day.

Omokri, in a post on his X handle on Thursday, shared a picture of him and the president during his visit to the Nigerian leader.

Captioning it, “Spending Independence Day with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa. May God bless Nigeria,” the staunch Tinubu critic, who has now become his apologist, is famous for supporting the policies of the Tinubu-led federal government.

However, Omokri, a former ally of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar led a team of protesters in 2022 against Tinubu at the Chatham House in London.

Omokri is also famous for describing Tinubu as a “drug baron.”

In a statement on his X handle on July 22, 2022, Omokri said, “I challenge @officialABAT, if you were not involved in a heroin drug ring in the United States in 1991-1993, then take me to court.” Nigeria cannot have a known drug lord as her president. God forbid. I also challenge Tinubu to take a drug test with @NDLEA Nigeria.”

A statement that many believe made the former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan go into “self-exile.”

However, with the news of his visit to the president, Nigerians alleged that the self-acclaimed “table shaker” speaks from both sides of his mouth.

With many describing him as a man “without character or conviction,” they alleged that he is after political self-aggrandizement.

Reacting to the post in a statement on X, Chubie Ujah said, “A man without character or conviction. Up for sale to the highest bidder. Another Fani Kayode in the making. Hunger is a bastard. Wendel Simlin, we celebrate you.”

Nze Maddox shared the same sentiments when he commented, “Hunger is a bastard. Especially for a mental patient like Reno Omokri.”

For Ochuko Famili, he said, “This is what you have been working for; well deserved. You have put in the work. I feel sorry for people that ever rated you.”

Below are more reactions of Nigerians to Omokri’s visit to the president.

Isaac Abiodun, “Those who cannot read the handwriting on the wall will think this guy says the things he says for the love of Nigeria. This guy wants power and influence at any cost.
Woe unto those who take you as an ally. Not with the way you’ve rained curses on Tinubu. You do not have loyalty.”

Uncle Sam, “So after shouting on top of your liver that he is a drug lord in the UK, now you are sitting and posing like a clown with a drug lord, or do you want to open a branch to start selling drugs for him? As your money is almost finished you what to join TBag to get the bag, just clarify to us.”

Anozie Israel, “I only pity those ignoramuses you’re confusing on social media. A man without “honour that is whom you’re.”

Courage, “Why will the government recognise this bigot? Is this guy really working for them? I never expected to see my president with such a valueless kid. Isn’t something really wrong with us?”

James Kefas, “After torturing Buhari for eight years and now seeing you shaking hands with Tinubu, who is even worse than Buhari in all levels, is the height of hypocrisy. Some of you politicians are all after your pocket, not after the prosperity of Nigeria.”

Ralph Okorie, “Shaking hands with the one you called a drug baron. Hunger has made you lose your integrity and shame. You need some crumbs.”

Emmanuel Oyedele, “The same man you trashed during the last election campaign. Now you’re there to lick his feet.”

Reuben Onuoha, “You have finally accomplished your mission with social media rantings, insults, ethnic hates, incitement, and other uncultured altitudes. Congratulations for a job well done in the interest of your paymasters. I hope you informed him that @PeterObi was the winner of the election.”

Sammy Gyang, “As expected. We saw it coming. From Mr. Bwala, FFK, to Omokri. Most Nigerian politicians are always after their pockets at the expense of the poor suffering masses. They only speak the truth when it doesn’t favour them. Congratulations sir.”
