Nicki Minaj has described a new working relationship with Eve that shows signs of the female rap stars bonding in a heartfelt message.

Nicki Minaj’s statement was in response to Eve’s comments about their working relationship during Barbershop 3 filming in 2016.

Eve describes the preparations she undertook to co-star with Nicki Minaj as two female rap stars competing for supremacy in the movie. In the book, Eve recalls attending therapy while filming.

It reads, “It happened at the start of my career and continued in waves as my fame grew. I wasn’t going to be that woman to someone else, but in order to do that, I had to physically and mentally prepare myself.

She adds, “We got along well and shot our scenes together with no problems. It was nothing like what I had expected, but again, I am thankful that I prepared myself for it.”

Once Nicki Minaj heard about Eve’s comments, she showed her appreciation on X in a post: “Dear Eve. The various things you’ve shared recently are groundbreaking (in my opinion) for so many reasons. First, thank you. The level of grace—the level of emotional and spiritual maturity it takes to be this vulnerable and transparent—is a sign of true peace, happiness, fulfilment, and mastery of self. Self-reflection at its height. I always say that I think accountability is the sexiest trait a person can have.”

Barbershop: The Next Cut was Nicki Minaj’s first acting role, while Eve would be recurring her role from the first two films. The third installment in the franchise made $55 million at the box office and co-starred Common, Cedric The Entertainer, Queen Latifah, Anthony Hamilton, and Ice Cube.

Nicki Minaj remembers filming with Eve and admiring her professionalism. Furthermore, she mentioned that she wasn’t sure if Eve liked her at first but realized she did during the shoot.

She continued: “I remember telling a friend of mine that I didn’t think you liked me after our first day on set together. But you know something crazy? I swear. I knew that you could tell deep down inside that I really liked you. So you went easy on me.”

Nicki Minaj is on the second leg of her Pink Friday 2: Gag City 2 tour. Despite previous reports to the contrary, Minaj told the media she’s not difficult to work with over the weekend.
