The Edo State Police Command has two suspects in custody in connection with the disappearance and death of Miss Faith Omodon, a 200-level undergraduate at Delta State University of Science and Technology in Agbor.

According to reports, on March 30, residents of the Iru Egbede community in Edo State’s Orhionmwon Local Government Area reported the abrupt abduction of their daughter, who was a Business Administration student at DELSU.

The missing girl’s father, Edward Omodon, informed our correspondent that his daughter was last seen on March 30, when she left home for the farm on a motorbike.

He stated that the incident occurred while the community was holding its national meeting.

“We usually have the Iru National Conference at this time of the year. We were seated inside the community hall when we heard loud wailing outside that my daughter was missing.

“She had left for the farm earlier that morning with a motorcycle, taking her breakfast in a flask with her,” he said.

However, our correspondent learned on Sunday that the community’s vigilante organization had detained and turned over two people in connection with the disappearance.

Speaking with reporters about the incident on Sunday, Iru-Egbede’s National Youth Chairman, Donald Isioma, said that the culprits were detained Saturday afternoon.

He stated that the two were caught when the deceased’s phone was tracked and traced to the suspects. Isioma added,

“The police have recovered the phone from the suspects, and the motorbike Omodon rode to the farm on the day she went missing.

“One of the suspects, who is a member of the community, has confessed that they killed the girl while being interrogated at the Okpaihe Police Station before the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Benin.”

When contacted, the state police public relations officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, stated that information about the arrest had not yet reached him but promised to get back to him as soon as he contacted SCID officers.
