Tinubu is far better than Buhari – Omokri

President Bola Tinubu has been described as a better Nigerian leader than his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari.

Describing Buhari as the biblical Egypt where the Israelites suffered in slavery, Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, argued that there is no basis for comparing Tinubu to Buhari.

While applauding Tinubu’s economic reforms, Omikri noted that the economic hardships in the country at the moment are all Buhari’s fault.

Omokri made the allegations in a statement on his verified X page on Thursday.

Omokri argued that while Buhari lacked the courage to remove fuel subsidy and float the naira, he led Nigeria into debt by borrowing from foreigners.

Omokri’s statement reads, “As president, Tinubu is by far better than Buhari. There is absolutely no basis for making such comparisons.

“The short-term pains we are going through as a nation are occurring because Buhari did not dare to remove fuel subsidies and float the naira.

“We simply could not afford it. And the man was borrowing from foreigners, in your name and mine, to sustain it. And you want Tinubu to continue that Bambara style of governance?

“Fuel importation into Nigeria is down by 53%, and local refining is up by 8%. Capital importation is also up by 66%.

“The Gencos have been privatized. States can now do what Abia did with Geometric Poser and collaborate with the private sector to provide electricity.

“In Europe, the UK, and the U.S., the private sector provides power. They only provide an enabling environment.

“I am passionate about Nigeria. I am convinced we need reform. And whoever can give us those reforms has my support, whether it is Tinubu, Waziri Atiku, or Peter Obi. For now, Tinubu is doing what he promised to do.

“This is also what other major candidates, except Kwankwaso, promised. Implement the Orosanye Report, lay the groundwork for state police, and be fair to all zones in appointments.

“Let us not speak out our frustrations or be tied to our history. We need to be tied to our potential. Buhari is in Egypt. Nigeria must never return to Egypt!
