Ola of Lagos: Netizens drag brand influencer over 'rascist comment'

Popular brand influencer Ola of Lagos has come under heavy criticism from Nigerians on social media over remarks in an advertisement video that they considered derogatory and racist.

In the advertisement video sighted by Chronicle NG, the influencer, while promoting a luxury spa in the FCT, was seen rating a Chinese masseuse over her Nigerian counterparts.

“Guess what? Na white e their massage therapist wey dey here, for your breakfast, Na white go massage you, no be naija massager..” Ola of Lagos remarked in a statement that many Nigerians consider to be derogatory and a downgrade on Nigerian massage therapists.

Reacting to the influencer’s comment, X user KEMZO, @diff_boy1, said, “Him nor know say na racist act be that. It’s good to be educated at some point”

Campbell David, @Campbelliite stated, “I thought his primary role was to make review on cars and jets? I don’t blame him at all, I blame Nigeria dysfunctional system. So I need a person of a different race to convince me of the fact that a product I’ll be purchasing would deliver on the extent of luxury promised?”

“Outside of Nigeria this is serious racism behavior. Does he even know that ?? We joke with anything and everything but we’re the first to cry victims when things go south.” Chaline, @chalinerados said.

“If not for social media hype What is this guy actually good at?” Another X user, Olamide, @olamideoficiall asked.

Questioning the relevance of Ola of Lagos comment in the video, Pharmacist Emeka, @StarBede, asked, “How is this supposed to make anyone patronize this spa??”

In his own view, Seun, @Sasnoop251, said, “That was totally unnecessary on his part… but again, he has his audience.”
