Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, has urged Nigerians to work together in order to bring the ugly spate of insecurity to a stop.

Obi made the call in a posted statement on his verified X handle on Tuesday, after he paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Nabeeha Al-Kadriya.

Chronicle Ng reports that Nabeeha and her sisters were kidnapped in the Bwari area of Abuja.

However, she was reportedly killed by her abductors after the family failed to bring the demanded ransom when it was due.

Obi noted that, though the nation has been submerged in this quagmire, “there is hope.”

The former governor of Anambra State noted that though ”It is heartbreaking to witness the pain and suffering of different families caused by the senseless acts of violence that have plagued our nation,” ”challenges like this raging violence in our society bring out the strength and resilience that lies within us.”

Obi urged all and sundry to ”stand up against this ugly wave of insecurity.”

Obi’s statement reads, ”Today, I witnessed yet another heartbreaking moment as I paid a condolence visit to the grieving family of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, brutally murdered by her abductors in the nation’s capital, Abuja, recently.

”At the same time, I remembered the family of the late Folashade Ariyo.

”Unfortunate challenges like this raging violence in our society bring out the strength and resilience that lie within us.

”It is heartbreaking to witness the pain and suffering of different families caused by the senseless acts of violence that have plagued our nation.

”However, amid this darkness, there is hope. I hope that together, as a nation, we can put an end to this horrifying and deadly insecurity.

”We must come together, united in our resolve to protect the lives and well-being of every Nigerian.

”To our citizenry, I implore us that we should not allow fear to paralyse us.

”Instead, let’s stand up against this ugly wave of insecurity.

”May we support one another, lend a helping hand to those in need, and work towards creating a safer and more secure future for all.

”May the memories of Nabeeha and all those who have lost their lives to such violent attacks inspire us, especially we the leaders, to take more decisive action against this ugly monster of insecurity.

”May we honour their memory by working tirelessly to ensure that no more lives are lost to such senseless acts.

”Let us believe in the power of unity and in the strength of our collective will. Let us believe that we can make a difference.

”Together, we can build a nation where every Nigerian feels safe, secure, and valued.

”I greet the afflicted and the bereaved with my deepest condolences and sense of solidarity.

”A nation that grieves together in moments of tragedy will surely rejoice together when we triumph over our current travails.”
