Operatives of the Nigeria Police arrested and detained three personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, for shooting two students of Senior Secondary School, Life Camp, within the Jabi and Gwarinpa areas of the Federal Capital Territory.

According to reports, two students shot by NSCDC operatives are currently receiving treatment at the Gwarinpa Hospital.

Following the shooting, some enraged high school students vandalized three patrol vehicles of the Corp in protest of the attack on their injured colleagues.

The event happened about 11.20 a.m. on Wednesday, according to our correspondent.

The NSCDC personnel attached to the NSCDC’s FCT Command were at the school to provide security while an examination was being conducted on the premises.

When contacted, FCT Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh verified the occurrence and stated that the police had restored quiet in the affected area.

Adeh said, “The incident happened, but our operatives intervened in time to restore law and order, and the environment is now peaceful. Two injured students are currently receiving treatment, and the CP, Haruna Garba, has ordered the commencement of an investigation into the incident.”

Meanwhile, the Corps’s FCT Command has yet to comment on the development.

When reached for a response, the Corps’ spokesman, Comfort Okomanyi, stated that she was unavailable but would make inquiries from the command and respond.

“I’m sorry, I’m currently indisposed. However, I’ll reach out to the command for an update on the matter, and I’ll get back to you,” Okomanyi noted.
