Four members of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) squad—Ousmane Dembele, Randal Kolo Muani, Layvin Kurzawa, and Achraf Hakimi—have been suspended for one match due to offensive chants.

The PSG players were suspended by the French League (LFP) disciplinary committee after it was captured on camera that they were singing an abusive song to the Marseille fans.

Following PSG’s 4-0 victory over their rivals on September 24, filming took place.

Hakimi and Randal Kolo Muani both scored in the 4-0 victory over Marseille.

Dembele, Muani, Kurzawa, and Hakimi expressed regret for their actions on Sunday, stating that they had let themselves to “get carried away with the euphoria” of the victory.

They added: “We are well aware of the impact of our actions and our words on the public, notably the youngest who dream of watching a football match.

“In the future, we will do everything to further respect our duty to set an example.”

Due to supporters yelling homophobic epithets at Marseille players, PSG will also be forced to close the Auteuil stand at Parc des Princes for one game in an additional punishment.

One of the two games that the stand closure penalty was intended to be served as punishment is now suspended.

The club declared there will be no appeal despite calling the sentence “excessive.”
