Sheffield United and Everton played out an intriguing Premier League draw, with both teams earning their first point of the season.

The two sides had poor beginnings this season, losing their first three games, but they couldn’t be separated at Bramall Lane, sharing four goals in an entertaining midday affair.

Sheffield United had the better start, but it was the visitors who took the lead thanks to Abdoulaye Doucoure’s rebound goal, Everton’s first league goal of the season.

United replied strongly, with the dangerous Gustavo Hamer forcing Jordan Pickford into a fine save, and they were rewarded when Cameron Archer side-footed in to complete a superb team play.

On the stroke of halftime, Archer’s arrowed effort hit the post before ricocheting off the unfortunate Pickford and into the net for Paul Heckingbottom.

After the half, Everton’s on-loan Arnaut Danjuma converted from close range following Nathan Patterson’s cross to the back post to salvage a point for Sean Dyche’s men.

United were inches away from a thrilling winner in the 99th minute, but Pickford miraculously pushed Oli McBurnie’s header on to the crossbar at full stretch, with the keeper recovering to send the follow-up on to the post.
