Dr. Wale Ahmed, the member representing Agege Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has told critics of President Bola Tinubu to shelve any plans of challenging him in the 2027 election, insisting that a second term for the President is guaranteed.

This is in spite of the opposition parties’ promises to depose Tinubu in the upcoming general election, which include the Peoples Democratic Party, African Democratic Congress, Labour Party, and New Nigeria Peoples Party.

The ADC coalition, led by former Senate President David Mark, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, has been leading critics of the Tinubu administration.

Ahmed made the case during a stakeholders’ meeting at the Agege Local Government Secretariat that it was only just that Tinubu, a Southerner, serve two terms, as the late President Muhammadu Buhari, a Northerner, was permitted to do so.

Additionally, he believed that the president’s audacious reforms and international initiatives had brought Nigeria recognition on a global scale and established the groundwork for sustained economic growth.

Ahmed said, “All his opponents should rest and allow him to have a second term. All opposition should simply rally round and support Tinubu.

“The late President Muhammadu Buhari, from the North, served two terms, so Tinubu should also have his second term. By God’s grace, his second term is assured. I will mobilize my constituents to ensure Tinubu is returned for another term.”

The politician supported the contentious decision to remove fuel subsidies, claiming that it demonstrated Tinubu’s bravery and long-term goals for the nation.

He maintained that the expansion of foreign reserves to over $40 billion, better inflows of foreign direct investment, a decline in inflation, and the repayment of N90 billion in student loans were all examples of the economy’s “financial re-engineering.”

Ahmed also cited infrastructure projects as evidence of the administration’s dedication to development, including the Abuja–Kano dual carriageway repair, the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, and the Sokoto–Badagry expressway.

“Tinubu’s foreign trips are yielding Nigeria respect abroad. The Sokoto–Badagry expressway had been on paper for 40 years until this administration took up the project. It will open up villages and benefit people across different states,” he said.

Ahmed listed constituency projects under his management, such as programs for women’s and youth empowerment, streetlight and borehole installation, food palliatives, medical outreach, classroom construction, skill-building programs, and scholarships.

Traditional chiefs, market leaders, and community representatives, along with Agege Local Government Chairman Abdulganiyu Obasa and his Orile Agege counterpart Abiodun Idowu, attended the occasion and praised Ahmed for bringing the benefits of democracy to the area.
