The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has extended the registration deadline for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, Second Series.
WAEC announced the extension of the deadline in a post on its X handle on Saturday.
“Registration for the WASSCE for Private Candidates, 2026 – Second Series has now been extended to Friday, 28 August 2026,” the council said.
It called on prospective candidates to take advantage of the extension and complete their registration.
Popularly referred to as WAEC GCE, the exam caters to individuals who are not enrolled in regular secondary schools.
The council announced a computer-based examination (CBE) for those seeking to improve their O-level results independently.
The registration fee remains N37,000, and the exam is scheduled to take place between September and October 2026.

The registration for the examination commenced on May 4, 2026, and the latest extension supersedes the earlier deadline of July 31, 2026.
