The Tinubu administration has set aside N9.5 billion for the procurement of bulletproof vehicle tyres, SUVs, operating vehicles, and plain automobiles for the State House, as well as the development of an office complex for Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants.

N2 billion was set aside for the replacement of SUV vehicles, N4 billion for the purchase of State House operating vehicles, N351 million for the purchase of tyres for bulletproof vehicles, plain cars, jeeps, and ambulances, and N3.5 billion for the construction of SA and SSA office complexes.

The Budget Office of the Federation released the 2024 Appropriation Bill on Wednesday, which contains the details.

Chronicle NG reports that the budget was presented by President Bola Tinubu to a joint session of the National Assembly on November 29.

Tinubu had christened the appropriation bill the ‘Budget of Renewed Hope.’

The Tinubu administration, in the proposed 2024 Appropriation Bill under review by the National Assembly, allocated N15.961 billion for international and domestic travel expenses for the President, Vice President, and their aides.

Tinubu’s travel budget amounts to N7.630bn, predominantly earmarked for foreign trips, with N6.992bn designated for international travel and N638.535m set aside for domestic travel.

Shettima’s travel allowance is proposed at N1.847bn, split between N1.229bn for foreign trips and N618.399m for local travel.

A former presidential spokesperson and Channels TV political analyst has urged President Tinubu to prioritise tackling the lingering problem of procurement and pricing in Nigeria’s budget.

Akande, who was analysing the 2024 Budget Proposal on Sunrise Daily Friday, December 1, 2023, explained that the line budget in the year-on-year budgetary system should be reviewed to aid the government in reducing its spending.
