A woman has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly firing multiple shots at the Beverly Hills home of pop star Rihanna while she was reportedly inside the property.
The suspect, identified as Ivana Ortiz, 35, was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department after the attack on Sunday afternoon, according to Page Six.
Authorities said Ortiz is currently being held in custody with bail set at $10.225 million (£7.61 million).
Police responded to reports of gunfire at the singer’s mansion in Beverly Hills at about 1.21pm local time.
According to the Los Angeles Times, officers discovered that the property had been struck by at least 10 rounds of gunfire during the incident. One bullet reportedly penetrated the wall of the house.
Radio dispatch recordings from the Los Angeles Police Department revealed that “approximately 10 shots” were fired from a rifle. Investigators believe the shots were fired from a white Tesla parked across the street from the gated entrance to the property.
Ortiz allegedly targeted the home where Rihanna lives with her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, and their three young children.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the rapper or the children were also inside the house when the shooting took place.
Investigators are also examining Ortiz’s social media activity. A Facebook post dated 23 February from an account believed to belong to the suspect mentioned the singer directly.
The post read: “@badgalriri Are you there? Cause I was waiting for your AIDS 5-head self to say something to me directly instead of sneaking around like you talking to me where I’m not at.”
Police have not yet disclosed a possible motive for the shooting.
The investigation remains ongoing.
