Mrs. Ifeoma Amarachukwu Ochiagha, an Anambra State woman, was among those who lost their lives last Monday during an attack by gunmen in Nnobi and is set for burial this Thursday.

Amarachukwu was hit by a stray bullet when vigilante operatives engaged gunmen suspected to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, at Nnobi Junction last Monday.

It was gathered that vigilante operatives operating in Nnewi had received intelligence that a gang of armed men were coming into Nnewi through the Nnobi community, prompting the commander to lead his men to engage them.

Unfortunately, the woman and a few other people who were struck by stray bullets were killed in the crossfire, along with the commander, Mr. Eloka Ubajekwe.

The Saturday before the incident, Amarachukwu had celebrated her marriage ceremony and was looking forward to a happy married life when her life was sadly cut short.

She was only 22 years old when she passed away, according to a funeral ad that her family posted and that her father, Mr. Timothy Ochiagha, signed.

A post by one of the woman’s relatives read: “One of the victims of the Nnobi/Nnewi Monday sit-at-home mayhem will be buried on Thursday.

“Amarachukwu, who got married on Saturday, met her sudden death (unknown gunmen) the next Monday.

“May your gentle soul rest in peace, Nwadiana,” the relative wrote.

It was gathered that the gunmen, suspected to be separatist elements, were on a mission to enforce the already abolished Monday sit-at-home protest in the South East.
