    Wizkid recounts difficulties living without his mother as he celebrates her posthumous birthday

    Nigerian Grammy-winning singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has recounted difficulties living without his late mother, Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun.

    While celebrating her posthumous birthday in a statement on Thursday, Wizkid lamented that “nothing makes sense without you, mama. Life is empty without you.”

    The singer, who mentioned that his heart is broken forever, stated that his late mother’s smile is all a memory he will never forget.”

    The Chronicle NG reported that Mrs. Balogun died at around 1.30 a.m. on August 18, 2023.

    Mrs. Balogun would have been a year older today, July 4, 2024.

    Eulogising her in a statement on X on Thursday, the ‘Ojuelegba’ crooner wrote, “Happy birthday, love of my life! I miss you every day. The first one without you here feels unreal. Nothing makes sense without you, mama! Life is empty without you.

    “Continue to watch over us! My heart is broken forever. I love you, Morayo Mi. Your smile is a memory I will never forget. Your laugh! Your hugs and kisses. I miss you dearly.”

    Wizkid also extended his heartfelt condolences to bereaved people across the country and the world at large.

    “And to everyone who has ever lost their mother, family members, or anyone close dealing with the struggle every day! God is real. And He will console and comfort you! Pray.”
