Wizkid, the Grammy-winning Nigerian artiste, has been announced as the first headliner for the 2026 Detty December Fest, set to kick off in Lagos on December 18.
The ‘Made in Lagos’ hitmaker will open the two-week celebration, which runs through December 30 and features a lineup of music, culture, food, fashion and entertainment.
Now in its second year, the festival is expanding with the introduction of a second stage. Wizkid will perform on the main festival stage, while the newly added Pulse Stage will showcase emerging artistes, breakthrough talents and next-generation sounds shaping the future of African music.
Darey Art Alade, co-founder and chief creative officer of Livespot, confirmed that additional headliners will be unveiled in the coming weeks. He described the festival’s growth as a reflection of African music’s rising global influence.
“African music has never been more influential globally, and we believe our festivals should reflect that ambition,” he said.
“The introduction of the Pulse Stage is particularly exciting because it gives the next generation of artists a platform to perform alongside some of the biggest names in music. That’s how ecosystems grow.”
Wizkid’s upcoming performance marks a return to the stage following a relatively low-profile year. His fifth studio album, ‘Morayo’, was released in November 2024. In January 2026, he linked up with Asake for the joint EP ‘Real, Vol. 1’.
Detty December Fest debuted in December 2025, with Nigerian superstars Wande Coal and Young Jonn headlining the opening night.
