The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has revealed what he said God told him about the schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oyo State.
The victims were kidnapped on May 15 from three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. During their captivity, the kidnappers reportedly killed a mathematics teacher, Michael Oyedokun, and circulated a video of the killing.
Speaking in a viral video recorded at the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala in Washington, D.C., Adeboye said the incident pushed him into intense prayers for the victims.
He said, “God is moving in Nigeria. Because of what was going on, when the pain became almost unbearable and some people were accusing me of being quiet at a time when I should be talking.”
Adeboye said he sought God’s intervention following criticism over the effectiveness of prayers and concerns about the fate of the abducted victims.
He added, “I was compelled to cry unto God because we have been fasting and praying for a particular group of schoolchildren who were captured. Some people then began to speak, challenging those of us who said we have been praying. They said, ‘You have fasted, you have prayed; where is your God?’
“So I went to the Lord in prayer. I said, ‘Father, you’ve heard them. They said, “Where is our God?” Answer them.’
“God spoke to me. He told me that the release of the children is going to be dramatic.”
According to him, God did not reveal when or how the victims would regain their freedom but assured him that the situation remained under divine control.
“He did not tell me the time or the details. He also spoke about what would happen to those who have been sponsoring terrorism and kidnapping in Nigeria!”
Adeboye also recalled advising President Bola Tinubu in 2024 to direct security agencies to intensify efforts against terrorism and kidnapping across the country.
He said the President later met with him and subsequently issued directives to security chiefs.
