#WengerOut back on the cards as Arsenal lose 4-0

Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger cut a dejected figure during the match against Liverpool

Arsenal fans wasted no time in invoking #WengerOut on Twitter shortly after the Gunners lost 4-0 to Liverpool at Anfield.

#WengerOut happens every time the fans are frustrated with the team’s performance.

Its not that it has any effect on the Arsenal board or on Wenger’s reign at the north London club, if anything, its the only way Arsenal fans know how to vent their anger.

That Wenger’s team looked colourless and almost clueless was not in doubt at Anfield but the fans believe its something that has to do with the Frenchman’s technique.

If Arsenal is winning games, like they did against Chelsea in the FA Cup and in the Community Shield, the fans seem to commend Wenger for doing a good job – although this is done somewhat quietly – but when the losses ring in, social media is the place to be.

Wenger has stated repeatedly that calls for him to resign via social media have no impact on his career at Arsenal but the fans are not deterred.

Here are some #WengerOut tweets shortly after the Liverpool mauling.

Just look at that body language. Nobody taking charge. Nobody standing up and apparently nobody ready for a fight #WengerOut pic.twitter.com/CwoV6ajuny

If you still support Arsene Wenger then your support for Arsenal Football Club has to be questioned. #WengerOut

The worst @Arsenal team and performance I have ever had the patience and misery to endure. #WengerOUT #KroenkeOut #GazidisOut @SkySport

BBC Radio 5 live pundit Robbie Savage at Anfield:

Liverpool haven’t beaten Arsenal, they have destroyed them. Thumped them. Torn them apart.

It doesn’t matter what formation you play or your tactics, it’s also about desire and winning second balls. I don’t think enough Arsenal players want to play that kind of football.

Where are the leaders on the park for Arsenal, getting the likes of Xhaka and Monreal by the scruff of the neck and demanding to know what they are doing?

If I was an Arsenal fan I’d want to see my manager. Arsene Wenger and Steve Bould are simply sitting there doing nothing. Get out there and give your team a rollocking.

Talk about body language! Think of the Arsenal teams of the past – leaders like Adams, Keown and Bould.

That was one of Liverpool’s very best performances in a number of years. The midfield controlled the game with the pace and power of Wijnaldum, Can and Henderson combined with the pace of the attacking threat of Salah, Firmino and Mane.

It was almost perfect as a performance and it could easily have been more.
