The vigilante in Aiyetoro Kiri, Kabba Bunu Local Government Area, Kogi State, foiled an attack on the Kiri High School early on Wednesday by suspected bandits on the Kiri High School.

According to reports, members of the Kiri Vigilante Group responded quickly and engaged the perpetrators.

According to community reports, the vigilante team successfully rescued students who had been abducted during the assault, and none remained in captivity after their involvement.

According to reports, one vigilante member was killed while defending the village, while one citizen perished during the rescue effort.

However, Zaccheus Dare Micheal, Chairman of Kabba/Bunu LGA, denied claims that any students were abducted during the incident. He added that armed intruders attempted to break into the school but were unsuccessful.

In a statement published by his Chief Press Secretary, Omofa John, the chairman clarified, “The attention of the Kabba/Bunu Local Government Authority has been drawn to reports circulating on social media about the attack at the Kiri axis of Bunu District. For clarity, we wish to state the following: The bandits attacked, but they were resisted and repelled by our security team.

Stray gunfire claimed the lives of one hunter and one resident. The Joint Task Force has stepped up activities to restore public trust in the area.

We ask the public to refrain from sharing unverified information on social media, as offenders will face the full force of the law.

Local vigilantes and security troops are searching the surrounding bushes, and normalcy has been restored under careful observation.

Authorities say operations are ongoing to ensure lasting peace and security in the affected area.
