US federal agents on Monday raided the Washington, DC, area home of Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar as part of an ongoing criminal investigation, according to reports by the New York Post and Associated Press.
The Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Security Investigations unit carried out the raid under a warrant authorized by a court, the Department of Justice said.
“Today in the Washington, D.C. area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice,” a DOJ spokesperson told Fox News Digital, according to the New York Post report published on Monday, October 12, 2026.
“This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal investigation,” the spokesperson added.
According to the New York Post, the investigation involved allegations of fraud related to the immigration paperwork of the Democratic congresswoman.
Nevertheless, the Justice Department’s statement did not publicly offer any further information regarding the investigation.
It stated that the Justice Department confirmed the warrant had been executed, but it did not reveal any additional details about the case.
Omar, who is 44, represents Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, an area that includes Minneapolis.
She was initially elected to the US House of Representatives in 2018 and is recognized for her progressive political positions and her criticism of President Donald Trump.
The investigation is still ongoing, and the reports currently available do not show that Omar has been charged with any crime in connection with the case.
