    Two policemen arrested for extorting woman N10,000

    Two policemen have been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force for extorting a woman of N10,000 in Agbowa area in Ikosi, Lagos state.

    The two policemen, ASP Adebayo Ojo (DTO) and Sergeant Adeleke Mojisola were indicted in video that went viral on social media.

    A tweet by the police said, “The two policemen, ASP Adebayo Ojo (DTO) and Sergeant Adeleke Mojisola indicted in this viral video have been identified and arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.

    “Meanwhile, investigations aimed at initiating internal disciplinary actions against them have since commenced,” the police said.

    In the video shared on Twitter, the woman said the two policemen had referred her to the a PoS operator and after she got N10,000 from the operator, the two policemen asked that she be arrested.

    She said she tried to talk to the policemen but they refused. She asked by they were arresting her but they refused to speak.

    She subsequently went to the police station with them, on getting there, they filed no complaint against her, instead they left her without filing a report.

    According to the woman, the incident happened around 11 am. She said she was asked to go home because the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) would not resume to work before 6pm.

    She said she had to wait over seven hours for the DCO. On arriving at work, the DCO dismissed her complaint and referred her to one of the policemen who had earlier referred her to the PoS operator.

    Eventually, she was asked to pay N10,000 which she did pay because she did not want her car sleeping at the police station.

    She said there were many of them at the station who were asked to pay N10,000 each.
