The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has launched an online passport application portal that would allow Nigerians to apply for their passports easily.

Tunji-Ojo declared in December that the FG was striving to guarantee the country’s application procedure was totally automated.

At the time, Tunji-Ojo stated that the online passport application system was “99 percent done” and that the procedure would entail submitting images and supporting documentation.

He stated that Nigerian applicants for 32-page passports with a five-year validity would pay N25,000, while those seeking 64-page passports with a 10-year validity would pay N70,000.

Meanwhile, overseas applicants seeking the travel document with a five-year validity period and 32 pages will pay $130, while those seeking the document with a ten-year validity period and 64 pages will be charged $230.

To apply online, follow the steps below:

    4. Upload your passport photograph and other supporting documents.

    2. You must have NIN.

    3. Have a passport photograph that meets ICAO standards.

    4. Have your documents, such as your birth certificate, local government certificate of origin, and other documents, ready.
