The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has announced that the Federal Government has revised the recruitment rules for the Civil Defense, Fire, Correctional, and Immigration Services to make room for more women.
Women will now account for 35 percent of service recruitment.
Tunji-Ojo made the announcement following a meeting of the Board of Civil Defense, Fire, Correctional, and Immigration Services in Abuja on Friday.
The minister, represented by the Board’s Secretary, Ja’afaru Ahmed, stated that the ongoing recruiting into the Federal Fire will be based on professionalism, gender mainstreaming, and Federal Character principles.
Tunji-Ojo said, ”The federal government, through the Board, has approved the review of the guidelines for recruitment into and promotion in all four services under the Ministry of Interior.
”The development also comes with the modernization of the operations of the Nigeria Immigration Service.
”The modernization is going to be all-encompassing training, recruitment, promotion, professionalism, capacity building, and deployment of cutting-edge technologies.”
He also stated that the services would soon reveal timelines for recruitment into all services.
