Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have rescued six passengers abducted by kidnappers along the Hawan Kibo–Rafin Sanyin Road in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

However, the forces stated that efforts were still being made to locate and rescue the vehicle’s driver, who is still missing.

The incident occurred early Friday morning, when suspected kidnappers reportedly intercepted a van carrying people from Lafia, Nasarawa State, to Jos, Plateau State.

Confirming the event, Captain Polycarp Oteh, Media Information Officer of Operation Safe Haven, stated that troops from Sector 6 Operation Enduring Peace responded quickly to a distress call and successfully freed six of the abducted victims.

He stated that efforts to rescue the remaining victim are ongoing.

“At the early hours of today, troops of Sector 6 Operation Enduring Peace responded to a distress call on a kidnapping incident and swiftly mobilized, successfully rescuing six of the kidnapped victims.

“Deliberate effort is currently ongoing to rescue the driver. There is no cause for alarm. Troops are on top of the situation,” he said.

Our correspondent reported that when the forces arrived at the area, they discovered an ash-colored Honda vehicle abandoned along the roadside, with its passengers missing.

The forces promptly initiated a search-and-rescue operation in the adjacent bushes, successfully rescuing six people.

According to preliminary investigations, the victims were traveling from Lafia to Jos when the kidnappers intercepted their vehicle.
