Army troops have rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered N8 million ransom in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace’s Media Information Officer, confirmed the development in a statement made on Sunday.

According to the statement, the operation was carried out on Saturday, April 25, 2026, by troops stationed in Sector 9 Shendam, who “successfully rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered ransom paid by the family during a coordinated operation.”

According to the announcement, the rescue occurred after a female victim was abducted from the Bauna district of the Shendam Local Government district on April 19, 2026.

It added that “through rigorous intelligence gathering and interrogation of an arrested suspect who confessed to the crime, troops were able to identify the victim’s location at Padam Forest in Quanpan Local Government Area, where the victim was found and rescued.”

The military also stated that the operation resulted in the recovery of “the sum of 8 million Naira, which was previously paid by the victim’s family as a ransom to the kidnappers.”

Following her rescue, the victim was brought to the General Hospital in Shendam for medical treatment before being reunited with her family.

According to the statement, the recovered ransom “was returned to the family.”

It also stated that troops are still operating in the area, saying that they are “conducting exploitation operations of the kidnappers’ hideouts within Quanpan and Shendam LGAs to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate.”

The Joint Task Force thanked people for their cooperation and requested continuing assistance, requesting more timely information to help maintain peace and security in the Joint Operations Area.
