Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have intercepted N37 million and several mobile phones suspected to be linked to terrorist financing in Borno State.

In a statement on Monday, Sani Uba, media information officer of the North-East Joint Task Force, said the recovery was made at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Chabbal checkpoint.

Uba said troops stopped a vehicle conveying five occupants, three men and two women, and discovered about N37 million concealed in bags.

He added that multiple mobile phones, believed to be connected to terrorist coordination and funding activities, were also recovered from the suspects.

He noted that the interception is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle financial networks sustaining insurgent operations in the North-East.

Meanwhile, Uba said troops of Sector 1, working with vigilante forces, carried out a night ambush along a known crossing route used by Islamic State West Africa Province elements moving from Cameroon into Nigeria.

He added that after encountering the troops’ firepower, the insurgents retreated and abandoned logistics supplies believed to be meant for their operations.

Uba said the operations were carried out to disrupt both the physical movement and financial channels of terrorist groups operating in the region.

He added that the military high command has commended the troops for their vigilance and professionalism, noting that Operation Hadin Kai remains committed to restoring peace and stability in the North-East.
