Terrorists reportedly invaded the Kakafu community in Kwara State’s Patigi Local Government Area, abducting four individuals during a nocturnal raid that shocked the villagers.

The attack apparently took place at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, when armed men stormed the agrarian village, blasting gunshots into the air and inciting panic among residents.

According to sources, the terrorists operated without resistance for some minutes before taking their victims to an unknown location.

A forest guard, who spoke on the condition of anonymity owing to security concerns, said the attackers targeted the secluded settlement on the outskirts of Patigi town early Sunday morning.

“The incident happened during the dark hours at Kakafu. The village is on the outskirts of Patigi, and there are no security personnel who can access the area at that time of night.

“The alarm was raised this morning, and we immediately mobilized to the community. We combed the surrounding bush paths but could not trace the attackers or the victims.

“From the information gathered, one man and three females were kidnapped. Further findings indicate that the three females are a mother and her two daughters.

“They did not kill anyone. They only abducted the four victims and fired sporadically to create fear and confusion among the villagers,” he added.

Speaking on the current situation in the community, the source said residents remain traumatized and fearful of another attack.

“People are still in shock. Panic has gripped the community because the assailants are believed to be hiding in nearby villages,” he said.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, stated that the command had yet to receive official information on the incident but promised to provide updates once details were confirmed.

“I am not aware of the incident at the moment. Please, I will get back to you as soon as I obtain the necessary details,” she said.

The latest attack comes as tensions rise in parts of Kwara State following reports that suspected armed groups have distributed threat letters to several communities, including Ira, Inaja, and Aho in Oyun Local Government Area, and Dunshigogo in Kaiama LGA, days after the deadly February 3 assault on Woro town, which reportedly killed over 200 people and kidnapped more than 100 others.
