Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops have achieved significant operational victories, including the neutralization of terrorists in Kebbi State and the release of 62 abducted victims in Zamfara State, as security forces work to restore calm in the region.
Troops from Sector 2 in Kebbi State ambushed members of the Lakurawa terrorist organization near Augie Local Government Area, close to the Kebbi-Sokoto border, based on valid intelligence.
The operation was conducted out in Kerani Village, a vital passageway commonly used by criminals.
During the encounter, two terrorists were killed, and two motorcycles used for transportation and logistics were confiscated.
The motorcycles were apparently equipped with long-distance transportation attachments, indicating the group’s desire to continue cross-border criminal operations.
According to security sources, the operation was carried out in coordination with other security agencies and local vigilante groups, demonstrating the growing synergy between conventional troops and community-based security institutions in the Northwest.
In a separate operation in Zamfara State, troops raided Munhaye Forest, a suspected hideout of notorious bandit leader Kachalla Alti, following reports that numerous hostages were being held there.
The raid resulted in the successful rescue of 62 kidnapped victims, who are now in secure care.
Military officials stated that efforts are ongoing to reunite the liberated hostages with their relatives following appropriate screening and medical attention.
