A trailer loaded with iron rods collided with the perimeter gate of the Federal Medical Centre in Umuahia, Abia State’s capital, in the early hours of Thursday.
Chronicle NG gathered that the crash occurred when the trailer lost compression while mounting a hill on the Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene Motorway.
The event occurred on Finbarrs Road, close to the Abia State High Court, resulting in major traffic congestion on the busy freeway.
The trailer driver, who declined to provide his identity, stated that the accident occurred around 2:00 a.m.
He claimed that the truck lost compression while ascending the hill, forcing it to spin uncontrollably backwards before colliding with the Federal Medical Center’s gate.
The accident caused the truck to block a section of the federal highway, causing considerable traffic congestion during morning rush hour as motorists sought to navigate the affected area.
As of the time of posting this article, there was no official confirmation of any casualties, and efforts were on to evacuate the trailer and restore free flow of traffic.
